Our client is one of the nation's largest fitness franchisors in the country

They have more than 2,000,000 members and 2,500 locations nationwide. Their explosive growth resulted in adding a new location nearly every day. They offer members the ability to workout when it is convenient for them with 24/7 access to cutting edge strength training and cardio equipment while being protected by a state-of-the-art security system. Fitness has never been so easy for Members that are allowed to work out on their terms.

Launched in the early 2000s with the opening of their first health and wellness franchise location. In the short time since that first opening, they have grown exponentially with thousands of nationwide locations and millions of satisfied members.

This growth has meant the need to manage:

• Thousands of locations nationwide

• 50+ Vendors that support Franchisees from consumables to large-scale, capital purchases

• Localized marketing efforts that target location openings, new member initiatives, and ongoing promotions

• New product offerings around support and seasonal initiatives

The Challenges

Our client needed a way to manage the explosive growth that they are experiencing while also monitoring best practices among their supporting Vendors. Users were experiencing challenges in identifying what Vendors supported the different aspects of their businesses. Over 50 Vendors, each with different online capabilities, are utilized which also makes tracking the volume of purchases difficult to track as it relates to Vendor- incentives and rebate programs. The environment was not sustainable long-term with such exponential growth.

GearBox: The Solution

GearBox was engaged to connect all of their individual franchise locations to a single, online interface. Franchisees were equipped to order everything they need online – from towels to exercise bikes. Franchisees were also able to utilize parent/child hierarchical relationships for multiple location management and approvals. Corporate also has the ability to quickly engage new Vendors/Products on a national scale with a separate portal for engaged Vendors to update all aspects of the products offered online. Our client also gained complete visibility to of all activities on the system to allow for accurate rebate reporting and Vendor accountability around performance and pricing benchmarks.

Expanding the Role

This franchisor continued to expand the offering within their GearBox solution to include localized direct mail and social media marketing, resource libraries, online quoting and centralized billing – where all local tax liabilities are automatically managed through the GearBox.They also expanded GearBox’s role into other Franchise systems they support including Canadian and European locations.
